FREQCOR_VM_flag

Vickers & Mahrt (1997) quality flags aggregation.

This module aggregates the per-variable Vickers & Mahrt (VM) test flags exported by EddyPro into a compact set of global flags (ONE FOR EACH VARIABLE: w, T, CO2, H2O), used downstream for screening (co)spectra and fluxes.

This global flag should be zero (all flags zero) The considered flag types are : spikes, drop out,skewness/kurtosis(hard), discontinuity(hard)

Functions

FREQCOR_VM_flag

Aggregate VM test flags into one global flag per variable.

split

Split a string into a list of single-character strings.

FREQCOR_VM_flag.split(word)[source]

Split a string into a list of single-character strings.

Parameters:

word (str) – Input string.

Returns:

List of characters.

Return type:

list[str]

FREQCOR_VM_flag.FREQCOR_VM_flag(NumberDataFLAGF, FlagVM_sp, FlagVM_do, FlagVM_skh, FlagVM_dh, gss)[source]

Aggregate VM test flags into one global flag per variable.

EddyPro stores VM flags as a multi-digit code per half-hour, where each digit corresponds to a variable (u, v, w, T, CO2, H2O, CH4, …). This function decodes those codes for several VM tests (spikes, dropout, skewness/kurtosis, discontinuities) and sums the digits for each target variable to produce a global flag.

Parameters:
  • NumberDataFLAGF (int) – Number of half-hours.

  • FlagVM_sp (array-like) – EddyPro VM flag codes (one per half-hour) for spikes, dropout, skewness/kurtosis, and discontinuities.

  • FlagVM_do (array-like) – EddyPro VM flag codes (one per half-hour) for spikes, dropout, skewness/kurtosis, and discontinuities.

  • FlagVM_skh (array-like) – EddyPro VM flag codes (one per half-hour) for spikes, dropout, skewness/kurtosis, and discontinuities.

  • FlagVM_dh (array-like) – EddyPro VM flag codes (one per half-hour) for spikes, dropout, skewness/kurtosis, and discontinuities.

  • gss (int) – Gas species selector (1: CO2, 2: H2O, 3: O3, 4: CH4, 5: N2O).

Returns:

Notes

The function discards a VM test column if it contains only 8 and 9 digits (a typical pattern indicating the test was not selected in EddyPro).
